First and foremost, ABC affiliate WHAM-TV is going to be debuting their new HD newscasts this coming Monday, September 13 on their 5am Morning Newscast. They have completely redone their studio, control room, graphics, and logo. It should be very interesting to see what it will be like. Click here to read the story that the Democrat and Chronicle did for them.

Compared to what they have now, it will probably be 100x better.

Additionally, Holly Maynard left in mid-summer for WSOC-TV in Charlotte, NC. Jennifer Johnson, from WHEC-TV in Rochester, takes her spot on the morning newscast.

Next, CBS affiliate WROC-TV is starting their evening newscast an hour earlier. Instead of starting at the usual 5:00pm time slot, they will not begin at 4:00pm, most likely to compete with WHAM going HD. Matt Molloy will be anchoring and this newscast is also going to start this coming week.

No big surprised by Canellis getting the 9PM job. Dan Jiggetts could get the Friday-Saturday (weekend) spot on a per diem basis. Goldblatt is a good reporter and would be an asset to WMAQ. For the time since Liz Cho joined WABC-TV, she filled in for the senior anchor that she replaced at the helm, Diana Williams. Last week, on Thursday and Friday, Liz sat at the 5pm newspanel alongside Sade Baderinwa, and from what I saw, she did a good job. It is not something that I am used to seeing with my own two eyes, especially since Liz has only ever sat in for Sandra Bookman, if my menory serves me correctly. Besides that, the two of them, Cho and Baderinwa, appeared to have excellent co-anchor chemistry and that makes me hopeful that if one day, if Bill Ritter and/or Diana Willims lkeave the station, these two women could very well hold it down on their own and it would be nothing to it.

What do you guys think about that?

BTW, they also did an excellent job on the coverage of Hurrican Earl those two days.
