According to his Twitter, he's doing this for Tribune and another station group.

I thought commentary is usually reserved for respected station veterans, not troubled news anchors from other markets.

Interesting, nonetheless. I never would have thought that Alycia and Larry would have a career in the business after what they both have done. Surprisingly, they both moved to better markets, who would have thought that? I guess everyone deserves a second chance.

Well, I don't have any problem with him doing it. He and Alycia have made their share of mistakes, and it's been enough time for them to move on.

It would be nice for me to see these in person, because I'm not certain KPLR is running them (outsourced news department).

Little surprised anyone wanted to grab Mendte considering his role in the Alycia Lane fiasco.

Does anybody else feel that this is just cheap filler? It's cheaper to fill with opinions than with proper reporting. Commentary has a place in News television, don't get me wrong. But is commentary in a local news operation, often just a cover for trying to be cheap?

Back in TV News yesteryear commentary was a big part of local news.....

I've seen Larry's commentaries. They're pretty good. They're poignant and funny.
